Contract IV: Conveyance (Pipeline)
Summary of Work Performed this week: 11/14/2009
West End Conveyance (Ranch Properties) –
The west end crew started the week at East Pinnacle Road. The ARV at Station 13+75 was completed and the major piping inside the vault was installed. Survey crews marked the alignment for the road restoration at the end of East Pinnacle Road. The crew restored the contours in the area and worked on SWPPP compliance before mobilizing the heavy equipment to the LMPS to begin installation of the gravity sewer line. On Wednesday, the crew began the installation of the gravity sewer line. The 36-inch CCFRMP was installed within the plans and specifications. The trench excavation has shown to be stable and dry for the most part. Dewatering with pumps was completed when it was necessary. The sewer line was installed from Station 20+00 through Station 24+30 by the end of the week. The manhole installation at Station 20+50 was accomplished with a minor change. The base material will be #67 stone for the manholes, as approved by Craig Johnson. The trench type will remain Type III as long as the conditions are favorable to the type. GHBW have been notified and will make field observation of the trench conditions. GHBW will advise on when the trench type should change to cement stabilized sand. The utility crew took advantage of the great weather to continue with seeding and mulching for stabilization along the easement. The crew mulched areas from Station 136+00 through Station 11+00. The SWPPP report for next week will reflect the stabilized areas in detail.

Max Hardin began removal of the water crossing at Station 102+00. The excavated materials are being stockpiled at Station 130+00 to be used for the next water crossing.
East End Conveyance -
Monday, November 2, 2009,
the east end pipe crew removed both 36-inch RCPs at approximately Station 253+22. S.J. Louis will replace both cuts with full 8-foot joints of 36-inch RCP, as requested. Rick Roberts (Pulaski County) was onsite to observe construction activities. The east end S.J. Louis crew was able to control the water infiltration into the trench. S.J. Louis excavated to the required depth to maintain a minimum of 2-feet of separation between the 36-inch PVC force main and the 36-inch RCP. S.J. Louis placed one joint of pipe, but they did get under the double 36-inch RCP.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009,
