Contract IV: Conveyance (Pipeline)
Summary of Work Performed this week: 08/29/2009
West End Conveyance (Ranch Properties) – SJ Louis resumed pipeline installation this week at Station 81+10, and advanced the pipeline westward to Station 63+00 by the end of the week. The trench conditions remained very favorable throughout the week, with no ground water present. The pipelines were installed as specified. After consultation with Mark Wyatt, the trench type from Station 70+00 through Station 60+00 was changed to Type I. The decision was made because of improved trench conditions and possible cost savings. The utility crew continued the erosion control operations along the easement. The utility crew also spent time staging pipe and stockpiling #67 stone from Station 70+00 to Station 50+00. Grubbs, Hoskyn, Barton, and Wyatt had a field representative onsite to perform density testing on the pipeline. GHBW also had a boring crew access the site from East Pinnacle to do soil borings. Harvey Jordan visited the area of construction within the State Park, and was satisfied with the operations. Other Arkansas State Park officials are to make appearances next week, but no set time was given. Ricky White made a drive through the check the SWPPP issues, and stated the pipeline looked within specifications and no report would be issued.
East End Conveyance - The SJL pipe crew placed approximately 820-feet of 36-inch PVC pipe, from Station 203+80 through Station 195+30. The pipe was installed according to design specifications. The pipe crew excavated for the ARV vault located at Station 203+00, and completed the placement of the box. Rick Roberts (Pulaski County) gave SJL verbal permission to keep County Farm Road closed over night until the ARV vault was completed. SJL has reached the intersection of Pinnacle Valley Road, and plans not to enter Pinnacle Valley Road until August 31, 2009. The east end SJL pipe crew will be off the project for three days beginning August 28, 2009. The SJL east end pipe crew was off the project by 1:00 p.m., August 27, 2009. SJL is preparing to begin work on the aerial crossing located at the LMPS. They were reminded that this work must be coordinated with Carson & Associates. A schedule and entrance requirements must be submitted and approved before work begins. Max Hardin stated that the subcontractor, Barcus, may be ready to mobilize as soon as next week and ready to begin work on September 8, 2009. Allison Najif (AT&T); Larry Wilhite (Klaasmeyer); Rick Roberts (Pulaski County); Max Hardin (SJL); and RPR, Mike Hoggard, met at the Little Maumelle River Bridge to discuss the Fiber Optic relocate. Klaasmeryer is the contractor that will perform the work. Max Hardin identified where the pipeline will be installed and the areas needed to perform the work. Rick Roberts was unsure where to place the FO conduit on the bridge. He requested that the conduit be attached to the 24-inch Force Main support structure, not the bridge. The RPR, Mike Hoggard, stated that, according to the plans, the conduit was to be attached to the bridge, not the support structure. Rick will confirm the conduit location with Sherman Smith (Pulaski County) and Howell Anderson (LRW). Klaasmeyer is scheduled to begin work next week.
