Contract II: Construction of Wastewater Treatment Facility
Summary of Work Performed this week: 09/05/2009

Max Foote Construction Co. (MFCC) worked a five day work week.
Monday, 8-31-09,MFCC carpenters began installing grating angle supports for the Headworks grit chambers. Operators and pipefitters worked installing the underdrain piping for the south side of the U.V. building. The piping is installed complete with #57 stone and filter fabric. The finishers placed 80yds of concrete for the Aeration A-B pass tee wall. Field testing was conducted. The carpenters completed the footing excavation for the Blower building HVAC mechanical slab. The carpenters began excavating the area for the Glycol piping installations. The carpenters installed the door frames for the CMU Grit room walls. The carpenters worked removing shoring and forms from the west scum skimmer slab. The finishers placed 15yds of concrete for the Blower building mechanical footing.
Tuesday, 9-01-09, MFCC carpenters completed installing grating angle supports for the Headworks Grit chambers. The angles were completely grouted in place per specification. Operators and pipefitters completed installing the underdrain piping for the U.V. building. The pipefitters began installing the channel drains for the U.V. building influent channels. The carpenters began installing the forms for the Blower building mechanical slab footing. The carpenters began installing wall forms for the Scum box valve vault. The carpenters worked relocating shoring and forms from the west Scum skimmer slab to the east side skimmer slab. The carpenters began removing gang form hardware from the south RAS room wall. The operators completed backfill and compaction on the south side of the Headworks building. The compaction results were 98.9% and 101% at optimum moisture.
Wednesday, 9-02-09, MFCC carpenters began installing beam supports for the Headworks channels and Grit chambers. These beams are for deck plate supports spanning the channels. Operators began placing backfill and compacting the U.V. channel area sub-grade. The pipefitters began installing the 1-inch Glycol piping under slab at the Blower building. The finishers placed 15yds of concrete for the Blower building mechanical perimeter wall. The carpenters completed installing wall forms for the west Scum box valve vault. The carpenters continued relocating shoring and forms from the west Scum skimmer slab to the east side skimmer slab. The carpenters continued removing gang form hardware from the south RAS room wall and relocating to the southeast RAS room wall.
Thursday, 9-03-09, MFCC carpenters continued installing beam supports for the Headworks channels and grit chambers. These beams are for deck plate supports spanning the channels. Operators began placing backfill and compacting the U.V. channel area sub-grade. The field testing for compaction passed at 102% with optimum moisture. The pipefitters completed installing the 1-inch Glycol piping at the Blower building. The finishers placed 60yds of concrete for the Aeration Basin B-C pass tee wall. Field testing was conducted; A/E=5, SL=5.5, Temp=87deg. The carpenters began placing and compacting fill for the Blower building mechanical slab. The carpenters continued relocating shoring and forms from the west Scum skimmer slab to the east side skimmer slab. The carpenters continued relocating gang forms from the south RAS room wall and relocating to the south east RAS room wall.
Friday, 9-04-09, MFCC carpenters completed the form work for the Blower building transformer pad and placed the concrete to complete the installation. Operators and pipefitters installed the 8-inch sludge drain piping for the truck unloading station complete with bedding and proper backfill. The pipefitters and labors worked on the job site clean-up. The finishers began cleaning and patching the Aeration Basin upper walls. The carpenters completed compacting fill for the Blower building mechanical slab. The carpenters continued relocating shoring and forms from the scum skimmer slab to the east side skimmer slab. The carpenters continued installing gang forms to the southeast RAS room wall.
C&D Steel Erectors, Inc: Subcontractor
C&D Steel Erectors completed installing the rebar and associated steel for the U.V. building NPW box walls and slab. C&D completed the wall steel for the Scum boxes.
Electrique Corporation: Subcontractor
E.C. continued working fabrication and installation of duct bank “A”, north of the Blower building.
Jocon Incorporated Building Erectors: Subcontractor
Jocon completed installing the roofing insulation for the Headworks building. Then, Jocon began installing the standing seam roof on the north roof line.
Midwest Coatings: Subcontractor
Midwest Coatings completed application of the moisture barrier for the exterior of the Odor Control CMU block walls.
DMG Masonry: Subcontractor
DMG completed installing the lintels and CMU block above the roll up doors for the Odor Control building. DMG completed the east and west interior CMU block walls for the Headworks building. They have begun installing the brick veneer to the north face of the Odor Control building.
Henley Construction: Subcontractor
Henley completed installing 6 course levels for wall-A behind the Admin building. The installation is complete with SB-2 backfill and all required density testing completed per specification.
