James R. Pender Vice Chair
|
Jim Pender joined the Board in 1997 and served
as Chair from 2000 to 2002. After receiving a bachelor’s
degree in Civil Engineering University of Arkansas at
Fayetteville, he moved to Houston and began working with
Exxon USA as a petroleum engineer. Jim returned to
Arkansas two years later to attend the University of
Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law,
graduating in 1985. He worked with a major law firm in
Little Rock and Texarkana before establishing the law
firm of Lax, Vaughan, Pender & Evans, P.A. Jim founded
First National Title Insurance Company in 1997 and
formed Pender, McCastlain & Ptak, P.A. in early 1998.
During his career, he has served as the Legislative
Clerk for Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Chairman of
the Cathedral School Board (twice); Special Justice of
the Arkansas Supreme Court and Arkansas Commissioner on
the National Commission for Uniform State Laws. He and
his wife Leslie have two children, Garrett and Brooks.
